Tier One Investor Visa: An investor must make a minimum investment for the amount of £2 million
Requirements:
- Must be 18 or over to apply for this visa.
- Must be able to prove that the money belongs to either the applicant, their spouse, or unmarried partner.
- Must have opened an account at a UK regulated bank to use for the funds.
The funds must be:
- Held in one or more regulated financial institutions
- Free to spend (‘disposable’) in the UK
- An investor’s funds can be in the UK or overseas when they apply.
Processing Period:
- The earliest one can apply prior to travel to the UK, is three months.
- It takes approximately 3 weeks to get a decision on the visa approval, if applying from outside the UK.
- Once an applicant has received their decision letter, their biometric residence permit will take up to ten working days to arrive.
Duration of Visa:
- The applicant can travel to the UK with the Investor Visa for a maximum of 3 years and 4 months. One can also apply to extend their visa for an additional 2 years, if the applicant maintains the investment and residency requirements.
Residency Requirement:
- Must reside in the country at least 183 days per year.
Citizenship:
Applicants may apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) after a variable period depending on investment amount, as follows:
- The applicant may apply after 2 years, if the minimum investment is £10 million
- The applicant many apply after 3 years if the minimum investment is £5 million
- The applicant may apply after 5 years if the minimum investment is £2 million
